About this course

Overview

This course focuses on the initial phase of the Electronic Plan (Eplan) Review workflow, involving the intake and preliminary review of construction drawings submitted by permit applicants. You will learn how to ensure these drawings meet your municipality's minimum requirements before advancing them to the next review stage.

Details

Each municipality has a process for submitting building permit applications. This course will briefly cover the various methods of submission and then how to conduct a swift initial review to ensure that the drawings comply with the basic standards specified by your municipality.
This initial review includes checking for correct orientation, necessary page details (numbers, labels, titles, revisions, issue dates), and compliance with basic submission standards. If the drawings meet the minimum requirements, they are then further prepared for a more detailed review in a Studio Session. If not, you will learn how to return the drawings to the applicant with clear feedback on what needs to be corrected.

Learning Goals

When you’ve completed this course, you will be able to:

  • Identify different submission methods and the role of Document Management Systems.
  • Quickly and effectively verify drawing submissions meet your municipality's basic standards.
